HIGHWAY SCHOOL OF MOTORING COURSES

You can learn to drive in either a manual or automatic car.

We tailor courses to your needs:

Assessments - 1 Hour Lessons - 2 Hour Lessons - Refresher Courses

Intensive Courses - Pass Plus - Motorway Driving - Advanced Driving

Fleet Training - Driver Instructor Training (ADI)

We tailor our courses to your needs. Some students wish to learn at a steady rate. Others choose to take a faster
option. We are happy to discuss your individual needs and provide a course that suits you and fits in with your busy schedule.

According to DSA statistics a new driver needs 45 hours of tuition + practice to pass a driving test.

UP TO A CHALLENGE? We set our students a real target... can you learn to drive in 25-30 hours?

IT IS ACHIEVABLE! We will motivate you, but are you willing to work really hard to achieve this goal? Our aim is to teach you not only to pass your driving test but to drive safely and confidently afterwards.

INTENSIVE COURSES

• Before you consider an intensive course, you need to think carefully.

• Only 50% of knowledge is generally retained on any intensive course.

• Only 20% of totally new drivers pass intensive courses 1st time.

• If you have had 10-15 hours of driving then intensive course pass rates exceed 70%

• To survive on the roads we need great awareness and razor sharp instincts

• So do you think you need to learn so quickly?

As an experienced driving instructor, my advice would be:

New drivers - learn over a minimum period of 6-8 weeks

Drivers with some experience - learn over 1-2 weeks.

Before you start

We cannot take you on the public road until you have a provisional licence. You must be 17 to drive a car (16 to ride a motorcycle ). A legal requirement is that you can read a car number plate at 20.5 metres with or without glasses or contact lenses.

To apply for your provisional driving licence you will need to fill in form D1, which you can get from your Post Office. Read the leaflet INF 1D and then carefully fill out the licence application. Usually The DVLA takes 2-3 weeks to issue your provisional licence.

LicencesREMEMBER: Your licence is made up of TWO parts:-

1: Plastic Photo Card
2: paper Counterpart

Both parts must be taken to both your theory and practical test. Failure to comply means you will not be able to take the test(s).
